News from the Alumni Engagement Task Force

As a Harlam camper in the early 2000s, I can vividly remember looking towards the back of Chapel in the Woods on Alumni Day and seeing hundreds of alums gathered for Shabbat services. I remember thinking how it special it was to see alums of all kinds – some fresh out of college, others visiting camp with spouses and children – gathered for a day of reminiscing and reconnecting with old friends. And now, as a Harlam alum myself, I know firsthand the excitement and anticipation that comes with a visit to Kunkletown over the summer.

Simply put, Harlam alumni are a passionate, energetic group of people that remains incredibly connected to camp. That passion and energy has been on display over the last 24 months, with so many people participating in various Harlam@60 events, from a weekend at camp in August, a Phillies game in the spring, or a happy hour in New York City. There were countless people involved in the planning of these events and hundreds more who attended.

That passion, energy, and desire to stay connected is why I'm personally so excited to join Lisa David in leading the newly formed Harlam Alumni Engagement Task Force. This Task Force was created with a goal of building off the success of Harlam@60 and designing a 3-year plan to continue engaging Harlam alums across the world. More than 20 people, spanning various decades of Harlam experience, have agreed to join the Task Force and we're hoping the work of this group will help alums stay connected to camp for many years to come.

The work of this Task Force has only just begun, and we're already off to a great start. During our first brainstorm in February, the group discussed a number of exciting ideas that we're looking forward to trying out over the next few months.

On behalf of the entire Alumni Engagement Task Force, thanks so much for your continued support of Harlam. We're excited to help the Harlam alumni community stay connected to camp like never before!

PS – Because I’m helping to lead this effort, I sometimes get to hear about things a little earlier than others. Don’t tell anyone, but Alumni Day is going to be on Sunday, August 11th this summer! More info will be coming soon.
