Day Camp Life
Our program includes an exciting daily schedule that focuses on traditional camp activities such as arts and crafts, sports, drama, nature, and swimming.
Each session campers participate in field trips to local attractions such as amusement parks, museums, roller skating, and to our extraordinary residential camp, Camp Harlam in Kunkletown, where our campers can enjoy the beautiful 350 acre wooded campus! To learn more about Camp Harlam email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call at 610-668-0423.
Throughout the summer we enjoy special days including Israel day and maccabiah (color war) as well as overnights and camping trips. Building our kehillah, community, we have many camp wide and family programs and performances as well as Shabbat experiences.
A Typical Day
|8:45||Arrival||As kids are dropped off, either by parent, carpool, or bus, informal games will be taking place for the campers to participate in (often the first morning games of GaGa!) and campers can chat with their friends by the flag pole.|
|9:00||Mifkad Boker||We start off every morning by raising both the American and Israli flags, singing "Modeh Ani", sharing any special announcements and celebrating campers birthdays.|
|9:15||Drama||In drama campers explore their collective imagination doing improv games, writing skits, and preparing a Hatzaga (play) for all of camp.|
|10:10||Sports||Every week the campers focus on two different sports including soccer, basketball, tennis, softball/kickball, ultimate frisbee, field/floor hockey, and of course, plenty of GaGa time.|
|11:05||Teva||Teva (nature) is a time for campers to explore the outdoors and learn some scouting skills. Nature walks, hikes, gardening and learning to build a fire are popular activities.|
|12:00||Lunch||Campers bring their lunch and eat together. If the weather is nice, we make it a picnic!|
|12:30||Free play||After lunch campers get a chance for free play. This time can be used to finish an art project, sing songs or just to run around a bit after lunch.|
|1:00||Swim time||Swimming is an important part of our program and we work hard to help every camper feel comfortable in the pool. Swim time is made up of instructional swim with our certified instructors and free swim where kids can play in the pool (often we organize games of Marco Polo, water basketball, or volleyball during free swim).|
|2:30||Snack||After the campers dry off from swim and change into clean clothes, it's time for a healthy snack.|
|3:00||Etgar||Here the campers learn to work together by doing different team building and personal challenges. Our program is designed to help every camper take healthy and safe risks in a positive environment. Here groups can really come together to form a community.|
|3:45||Siyum L'yom||After an exhilarating day, we come back together to finish the day by lowering the flags, going through the lost and found and getting any last minute announcements.|
|4:00||Departure||Campers are picked up or board the buses to go back home.|
|4:15||Aftercare||Campers who need to stay late are given the opportunity to unwind with free time in the arts and crafts room, or by playing cards and board games under a tree. Those who still have the energy can play basketball, GaGa, or soccer.|
|6:00||Pick up||After a long day all of are campers say good night (unless they have an overnight...then they are just getting started)!|
