For the past few years, members of our community have convened at Camp Harlam on a Sunday in early May for a day of service, called Tikkun O-Camp. This program has been an opportunity for the Harlam family to give back to the place that we care so much about while enjoying a day on-site in Kunkletown. In the interest of continuing to find the best means of engagement and ways for our community to be a part of our commitment to Tikkun Olam, we are excited to offer a new opportunity to give back in the communities we live in.
On May 7, 2017, we will enjoy our first-ever Harlam Day of Service. This day will give our families and community members an opportunity to volunteer with other Harlamites in our local communities. We’ll be offering programs in the Philadelphia area and Washington, DC area.
Philadelphia: We’ll be working with Northeast NORC to help senior citizens with household tasks. We will be meeting in the Northeast area of Philadelphia – the exact location will be sent prior to the event.

Washington, DC: We’ll be working with A Wider Circle (9159 Brookville Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910) helping to organize and stock donations that will go to people in need.

At each location, there will be a chance to spend a few hours giving back to two great organizations as well as time with fellow Harlamites. There will be refreshments provided and a gift for all our volunteers. Please note that all minors must be accompanied by an adult. If you have any questions, please email Jon Schulman, Operations Manager.
For those of you who live in the Lancaster, PA area and would like to volunteer on May 7th, you can also attend Congregation Shaarai Shomayim’s Mitzvah Day. If you are interested in attending, please email Jennifer Finkelstein for more details.
