This was not the first time Dan Nichols has visited Camp Harlam, but over the past few days, his work with campers was very unique to this summer. I had the unique experience of working with Dan and several campers Arava and older on a unity song. As many of you may know, the past few days camp has been participating in maccabiah, a competition where camp is split into 4 teams. Representatives from each team came together to write a song about togetherness, even in our time of separation. I was blown away by the creativity and thoughtfulness in the room. I have a very high opinion of campers at Camp Harlam, and I was still blown away by their creative abilities. Dan gave them guidance, and they ran with it. We met for a total of 5 hours, divided into 2 different sessions. I appreciate so much Dan’s thoughtful guidance as well as the campers ability to jump in. I will remember this experience and this song for a long long time.
Where I’m From

We are from the blue team, we are from the green
We are from the red and gold searchin’ for what winning means
We are from Camp Harlam makin’ Joe and Betty proud
We are all together here and now

(Abby) I am from sneakers wet from morning dew, From Ajax powder and Lysol spray
(Becca) I am from the signatures on the wall
(Tess) I am from the pine trees, the seaweed in the lake
(Brandon) I am from the ash from campfires
(Lauren) I am from Song Session and laughing so hard we cry

(Abraham) From Dinah and Beebs and Harlam
(Emma) From the craziness and caring
(Harrison) From the shouting and running
(Zach) From “never be sick” and “never get old”
(Alex) I am from gratitude and kindness, from s’mornings, Yotzeir Or,to milk squad siyyum
(Lauren) I am from Kunkeltown and Joe and Betty
(Lexi) I am from Yellow Meal and Nature Valley Bars

(Jordan) From the getting hurt, to the rising back up and leading others and the energy while doing so
(Ariel) From the first time I went on the swing, the times I cried because I was homesick, and the times I laughed because of my friends
(Emily) The voice I lost from singing
(Morgan) I am from all the pictures in the yearbooks where everyone is smiling

We are all one people singing this one song
We are future history- friends, now family
We are from the whole world- traveled near and far
We are all together here and now
We are all together here and now
