Situated in the Pocono Mountains, Camp Harlam is nestled in a beautiful environment for campers to live and learn. The breathtaking surroundings including fields, courts, and elements that are sure to enrich the lives of every camper, making Camp Harlam an unforgettable experience. With more than 300 acres of land, great sports and arts facilities, three pools, eight climbing elements, Lake Joshua, plentiful indoor program space, and many other outstanding facilities, there is a place for everyone at Camp Harlam.
Living Spaces
There are five different villages where campers live over the summer. Male-identifying and non-binary Junior Camp campers live in the Woodside village; female-identifying and non-binary Junior Camp campers live in the Hillside village. The participants in our Avodah and Rishonim programs live in the Lodge. Our rising 9th grade campers in K’far Noar live in their own village at the top of camp. These bunks are winterized and can be rented out for groups in the off-season. Our rising 10th grade campers in Chavurah live in our teen village 1/4 mile down the road from main camp. Each village provides an appropriate level of independence for each age group.
Athletic Facilities
Adventure Elements
Our Adventure facilities include both an indoor and outdoor climbing wall, a climbing tower, a giant swing, a low ropes course for team building elements, two high ropes courses, a 550-foot zipline, and mountain biking trails. Campers experience each one of these elements at least once every session!
Outdoor Worship Space
On Shabbat we have two special locations where we host Shabbat t’filah. Friday night services are held on Chapel on the Hill, the most important landmark at camp (it’s even in our logo). Saturday morning services are held in Chapel in the Woods, a peaceful place to gather for prayer, nestled in the forest.
Arts Facilities
Our Arts program has several incredible facilities. Our Omanut building is the home of all fine arts as well as other arts and crafts. Our other Arts facilities include a dance studio, a woodshop, and an air-conditioned media center that plays host to a recording studio, video studio, and digital photography studio.
Waterfront Facilities
There are three pools at Camp Harlam. The L pool and the Z pool are located within the main camp area, while the I pool is located in our Chavurah village (for teens entering 10th grade). Campers are scheduled to be in the pool at least once nearly every day during the summer. In addition to three pools, we have a private lake with a beachfront for paddle boarding, swimming, climbing on our lake toys, and fishing.
Chadar Ochel (Dining Hall)
Our air-conditioned Dining Hall can accommodate the entire camp community for meals during the day. Adjacent to our Chadar Ochel is our kitchen, which prepares delicious kosher-style meals. The Dining Hall is heated for winter use.
Indoor Program Spaces
Beit Hatarboot: The Beit Hatarboot is the main rec hall at Camp Harlam. It has a stage and a complete sound/lighting system. This space fits the entire camp community. It is great for concerts, plays, talent shows, and other fun all-camp or unit programs. It is also air-conditioned to keep cool in the summer and heated for winter use.
Mercaz: The Mercaz is another air-conditioned building that provides great space for more intimate programming, typically for an entire age group at once. It consists of a main room, three classrooms, and a library room with more comfortable seating. This building is heated for winter use.
New Beit: The New Beit, built after the Beit Hatarboot, is an air-conditioned building that has a stage and a sound/lighting system installed. This building is also perfect for unit programs such as talent shows and other fun activities.
