It's been another fantastic week at camp! Read below to find out the highlights from each unit.  Carmel: This week in Carmel was jam-packed! We had an amazing time in the Chavurah village with our buddies, swam at Beltzville, and celebrated fourth of July surrounded...

Last year in Galil we were all separated into different bunks. K’far has brought us together to create one big community. Although a group of crazy girls running around a bunk may be a community, at camp we try to make every moment together special.

The years’ 1776 and 1948 have something special in common.  These are the years that my two favorite places gained their independence – America and Israel. 

The days are long and there are always a million things on our to-do lists, but it is moments like this – helping kids realize all they have to be grateful for – that make this job so meaningful.

As current Chavurah campers, it’s incredibly special that we get to live in one of the camps only places with so many signatures. Besides the bunk another place in the village that’s held tight in our hearts is the barn.

Throughout camp there is an essence of leadership.  As one develops, the leadership opportunities widen.  As Chavurah campers we are given a sense of obligation to be leaders.

While I don’t remember who my bunk mate was during my Sharon summer in 2010 or what Chugim rotation I did in Chavurah, I can still remember each lyric to each unit cheer I sang at the top of my lungs on Friday nights. Unit cheers are unique song parody’s, written by that unit’s staff, that describes the unit and inside camp jokes.

It was to be like a synagogue, but…different. Donald Marder, a renowned architect in Philadelphia, was hired to design this unique space. As far as we know, there is no other like it in the world. There is no place else where you can see clearly from above that the structure that I am standing under and the walls that we see throughout the sanctuary form an outline of the Magen David, the six-pointed Star of David.
